It’s difficult to get a wink of sleep in Ambridge these days. Worry waits on every pillow, and the nights are made all the more restless by the sweep of headlights as unlicensed detectorists make their surreptitious way to Brookfield. David can stand no more of it as his fields are churned up and his livestock disturbed. Eddie, however, has a cunning plan - which, just like so many of Eddie’s plans, will be good for the Grundys, but no one else.
Meanwhile, Freddie gets inundated with offers for the Christmas show, but in a darker part of the plot, Alice and Chris face a worrying drama.
