I used to sing it while I was hitch-hiking. It made me feel better when I was stuck at Sheffield Tinsley, the worst place on the M1 to end up because you were always at the end of that flyover where nobody got onto the motorway but only off it when you were dropped there by someone getting off, but I hadn’t yet got desperate enough to start on Ilkley Moor. That for some reason always seemed to get me a lift but only if I left it for an hour or so before trying it. Once, when it was frosty and dark and I had no gloves, gymshoes and a rather inadequate coat, Ilkley Moor got me a lift all the way to Hendon.

Where I trust you were used for a ‘practical’, or at least an object lesson, at the College. “This young fish…” & etc

I avoided Them at the time; I had a leather jacket on, knew that it’s a sin.

Very nasty, labyrinthitis. I used to get it every winter, caught it from a nurse in the first instance, but it seems to have gorn orf for the past few years. I used to watch the pattern on the wallpaper dance Eightsome Reels and Strip the Willow.

It stopped me driving for almost 4 years, as I wasn’t really safe

I’m hoping that the blast with the antibiotics will prevent it from developing, as the memories of it are Not Good…

Said nurse lost control of her tum going round a roundabout and was forced to use her dog’s water bowl, quick.

Poor woman…

Mine started in 2003 along with most of my allergies. I had been stung on the head by a hornet in July, a good friend had died in August & our Sister in Law was shot dead in her shop at the end of that September. We thought at first that the throwing up & dizziness was a reaction to the shock, but it went on for weeks & weeks

Hey Ho

Friend & her husband were taking a group of Boy Scouts camping when one turned green in the back of the minibus. The nearest thing to hand happened to be the frying pan…

errrrk, Carinthia.
It is probably otiose at this point to say that being stung on the 'ead by an 'ornet is best 'havoided.

That aside. A dreadful shock and loss. I’m sorry for it.

I have tried to avoid it ever since, Gus.

Since then, I’m allergic to wasp stings too, and, on another occasion in Austria, sat down on 1 in in the kitchen of the Gasthaus run by friends.
Local FirstAid says apply a thick slice of onion to the sting

Carinthia running round in Carinthia with a sliced onion in her britches

It wasn’t pretty…
