Seriously, we do - or did - love TA. It’s just that the last few years it’s been hard to believe the producers do. Oh for an editor who understands radio and isn’t using it as a route into TV soap and trying to turn it into a carbon copy of them.

No, I agree with the points you make above. But I don’t think I ever loved it. It became a habit. I had stopped listening for a long time before I hooked up with Himself, and then it sort of started again. We would often listen in separate rooms, and he could hear my shrieks of rage and derision (or sometimes of minor cooking injury, depending) and I could hear him laugh at them (which didn’t go down too well when it was a minor cooking injury, needless to say). Now it is punctuation between day and evening and one needs to keep up to play on the boards.
