Facing ‘the inevitable’ doesn’t make sense to me if it’s about the pregnancy. There’s nothing inevitable out it. So what is she facing? That Toby is a tosser? Oh, I know, that Jill is going to have to be told Pip is going to have a Fairbaby since the next day she, Jill, is ‘left stunned’.

How I do wish they meant some of these things literally, such as Pip being torn (to pieces by badgers) and Jill stunned (with a lump hammer).

Stunned with a captive bolt, humanely slaughtered and disposed of as a biohazard?
