I very much fear you are right! The ‘crisis of confidence’ will be a choked-up David reassuring her she’s as beautiful as evah (he could do that perfectly truthfully if one goes by your description of her) and that she’s the Best Farmah Evah.
It would be lovely if the ‘home truths’ Alice is to give were to Pip, but the two halves of the one-liners are usually unrelated. And what cause Alice could have for laying into the ghastly Pip - or anyone - I have no idea, but it would be sweet anyhow, though I fear it is not to be.

Yes, a lumphammer would be lovely. However, I reckon it will be to do either with Rex’s ‘confession’ or some negative feedback on the quality of and prospects for whatever it is she dropped.
