Could this all be related?

Ooh, yes, and what could the ‘desperate situation’ be? A broken leg for Oliver? Is he the guest? Though the bearing the brunt part doesn’t fit in with that.

Did they learn nothing from the Chinese Lantern episode?

Good-oh.

Ooh, no, not poor old Olly! There are so, so many that are higher up on my list than Oliver, who isn’t even on it.

I think Pip is at the top at the moment, closely followed by Ruth, Helen and Kate. I don’t count Gavin, he’s not going to be around for long I suspect, so no use wasting good vitriol on him. My special hatred is for characters who are spoken well of in Ambridge but who are utterly vile, which is why Kate is at the bottom of the short list since they all seem to know what she’s like (though mystifyingly Jakob still wants to be with her).

A very few years ago, I would have agreed, Janie. But his generosity weakness over Grange Farm and the Grundys, and his inexplicable friendship with the foul Horrobint have somewhat put me off him.
