Is Rex going to decide he can’t possibly leave the pigs/village life to be with Anisha and dramatic pause should be with Pip and the baby instead? It was before my Archers time, but did they ever give things a chance?

Exactly. The explanation given before - suicidal addict ex - simply didn’t fit with the way the theme was introduced. It sounded more like he was being blackmailed.
