Meanwhile, I have managed to drop a potato smack into the fat in which it was to be gently lowered for cooking, and thrown roasting-hot fat about the place thereby. Fortunately, it all seems to have gone on my trousers rather than onto the floor. Unfortunately, it was HOT! ---
