So, who wants to help ... to cavort in the cellar?

Is your water hard dear Chatelaine?

We found kettles gave up the ghost very quickly until the lovely owner of the kettle shop advised us to only use filtered water

7 years on our kettle is quite happily working….

Just as well, or you might have to Look At Them Severely.

A thing it is better not to risk.

Meanwhile, having booked a freezer repair to be done tomorrow, and had this confirmed twice in email and twice by text, I then got a text telling me they couldn’t do the booked time (pm) and had moved it to am instead; when I rang them to say I don’t do mornings and ask if they had some other available afternoon, the female person at the other end of the line insisted repeatedly that they had not confirmed my booking.
I reluctantly agreed to change it to pm on next Tuesday.

I have now had a chat with another company with whom I made a booking for Friday online, and though they offer “next day repairs” and had no repair slot sooner than Friday, they rang me within ten minutes to talk about this and explain (rather sorrowfully) that they had made a mistake and the actual engineer had said the first date he has free is 20th, next Friday. I explained to the charming lady who rang me that I am seriously nasty in the mornings, and she’s sent the engineer email to say I need an appointment after noon, and will get back to me to confirm that this is possible when she has heard from him.

The difference in attitude between the two firms is really striking, and means I shall be cancelling next Tuesday’s appointment with the first company. Even if the second engineer can’t do next Friday at the time I need, I would rather not buy from a company which lies to me from the off. Sending two emails and two texts all saying this is a confirmation of a booking, and then denying that the booking has been confirmed by them, is dishonesty I don’t want to let into my house.

Grr, in other words.

Still, this repair is not essential and has been waiting for a year or so, so another week delay won’t kill me.

Oh, and the second company is about forty quid cheaper call-out charge, too, which may or may not turn out to be a bonus.

The water here isn’t hard, Twellsy, but I do always use a filter jug.

May I introduce my swinging hanging bamboo chair to the cellar?

It is a support frame which has a chair suspended from it and the chair sways gently and is very comfy

I need comfort as I am waiting for a bed in one of 3 hospitals

My GP is of the opinion that I need a stay in hospital to kick my asthma off me

I agree with him as I have not been right since Christmas

So I am at home waiting for the call so I avoid the Plague Pit a&e

Good luck!

I think the hanging bamboo chair will be less nerve-racking for us all than the trapeze; feel free.
