So, who wants to help ... to cavort in the cellar?

Well, I’ve made it this far…

I like Pratchett’s description: Live fast, die wide

And leave a good-looking corpse, preferably someone else’s.

Apart from the door-hanging (very satisfactory) I have been reading a book that has so engrossed me that I can’t bear to finish it. I’ll tell you all about it, tomorrow. Best nights, Cellarites.

Agog to find out what it is, wee Bee.

While I am a great fan of Hilary Mantel, I had previously bounced off A Place of Greater Safety. Gave it another go this week and have been utterly engrossed.

It’s The Beautiful Ones by Sylvia Moreno-Garcia. I heartily recommend it.

Ooh. I enjoyed, but didn’t love, Gods of Jade and Shadow and The Daughter of Doctor Moreau.

Found it.

Joiner finished all of the jobs we found for him and we’re very happy with his work so we paid him.

Hope all are well.

Huzzah! Can the joiner now be considered an honorary Carpenter Bee?

He most certainly can - just don’t tell him as he’d be overwhelmed, I’m certain.

*Did I tell you about the ‘normous Queen Bee that team bee rescued a few days ago? She had emerged far too early in the damp/cold and there was very little pollen about the place. We assembled a nest with a roof and dilute honey/water for her to drink. Well, she has flit and I like to think of her nesting properly now.

*I think I may have done - soz.

You hadn’t as far as I remember, and hurrah for the beely solidarity you showed.

Oh, that’s nice! You know those window latch thingies with holes in them - just looked it up and it’s called a casement stay - well, I was visiting a friend and a bee got stuck in one of the holes and the friend spent a long time patiently coaxing it out of the hole. He said he finally gave the beely bum a good shove and it worked and he didn’t even get stung for his pains.

It just told me what a truly kind person he is.

Your friend sounds like a keeper, Janie.

In my experience, bees don’t want to sting. In fact - despite having been bitten by horseflies, midges, fleas and mosquitoes (to name but a few) - I have never been stung by a bee, wasp or hornet.

Tonight, dinner will comprise scampi, chips and green beans.
