So, who wants to help ... to flummox the cellar?

Yup. Captain Carter and his little tug did their manful best but failed. Another attempt will be made in the early hours tomorrow.

It is particularly likely to fail if the ship has a big hole in her bottom.

Careful deployment of small explosive charges will fragment the wheat into flour and form a sealant paste.

I didn’t take this in earlier but now I’m wondering…

What would be the right bit of ground to run into?

I too puzzled a bit over that.

The middle of the air is a very safe place to fly. It’s the edges that are dangerous. Where you get things like church steeples, hills, sub-orbital space…

So by that analogy, a hill well inland would be a safe bit of ground for a ship to run into, whereas this ship ran into one of the edges. No wonder she’s in trouble.

I am going to bed early; I need to get up at silly o’clock to drive first to Bristol and then to Blackpool, so I have a long day tomorrow. Crossed fingers and candles appreciated… Goodnight.

One of the things that amuses me about people who think they can Find the True Ark: the world has been flooded. All the trees have been destroyed, until little saplings and seeds can take root and grow. Stones have been scoured off the face of the earth and dumped into the deep sea. You’re going to cut that thing apart to make shelters and houses!

Looks as though a more serious attempt at ship rescue will be made tomorrow morning. A digger is now at work on the beach and a big tug is on the way from Liverpool. That’ll cost the owners summat.

If they don’t get it off now-ish, next springs would be, what, the 7th or so? That’s not cheap either.
