Oh, dear…My Stepdad had served in the RAF in India. He caused some embarrassment when we were out for a Chinese meal and he ‘saw’ all of the waiting staff as Indian, shouting ‘jaldi, jaldi!’ loudly, when he found their service slow. There was a brief altercation, as I recall. How are you faring, Twellsy? Soo xx ---

Not good but not worse Same old bat locked the door to our wee room and wouldn’t let the nurses in at all From 1am to 3am The rest of the the patients were not amused by the yelling about burglars wanting to rob us in our beds I hope that I never get so old as to be confused and demented Poor old thing But the rest of the us are very unwell and need a bit of peace I have the remote control for the telly hidden as 4 folks do not desire noise And 4 out of 5 or us are the majority ---

I know someone who whenever she’s in hospital gets a mad Irish woman on the same ward. Presumably this is a bit more likely if you’re actually in Ireland… # yardarm ---

My father seemed to win the hearts and minds of the nurses at the beginning of his final stay in hospital by smiling and addressing one in Tagalog. Why he knew it I don’t know, and how he knew it was her native language I have no idea, but he did – enough for hello and I hope you are well, at least. She was charmed. The nurses all cried when he died, and I had to comfort them. He had clearly been whatever is the opposite of That Patient.
