Fried slices of sossinges in paprika… ooooooh. [drifts away on small pink juniper-scented cloud]
Oof,
Am back
Collected my Pies & Sossinge Rolls - still warm, & the savoury smell accompanied me to the Post Office & then home.
Unpacked everything & found a Bacon & Brie sandwich fer me Late Lunch
Happy Sigh

Oh, & the Post Office, not my usual one, had toilet rolls…

Altogether an successful trip by the sound of it, Dahlink.
I, meanwhile, am making a Shiny Thing.
You’re not a ferret, are you. Do you have friends who are ferrets?
I am friends with every ferret I meet.
Why break the habits of a lifetime?
Just went up to the little Tesco.
No green pepper. No peppers of any kind, likewise spuds, carrots, apples, oranges, bananas, pineapple, melon, cabbage, broccoli, caluiflower. Meat and cheese shelves virtually empty; bottled water, bread and cleaning products ditto. They did still have Booze, however, so I bought some of that. Oh, and they had a few onions. But so have I
I have just managed to get some Ornery Onions to add to the red ones Chez Carinthia. Remembering advice from the Late Ell Kaye, I also try to keep a bag of chopped ones in the freezer for Emergencies.
The Farm Shop have potatoes in manageable quantities, so I may try to get a small bag. I do have plenty of rice & spaghetti though
And green & red peppers…

Well, I have to go out tomorrow anyway to post things, so shall see what I can pick up earlier in the day (the small and horrible Tesco has so far been unaffected, otherwise I would have gone out during the afternoon). I get all insecure and twitchy in the absence of carrots. I’m not without things to eat by a loooong chalk. And if that cat doesn’t stop meeping peevishly at me, he might suddenly find himself among them.
He should earn his keep and bring you back some rabbit, or “rabbit”.
A cat working?
Not something that cats are fond of wee birdie
Right. Couple of onions, chopped, one large spud ditto, into approx 1" cubes. Sprinkled with salt then fried gently with a lid on the pan for about 8 mins. Added halved slices of Silesian sausage, fried a bit more. Sprinkle of caraway, heaped teaspoonful of smoked paprika and a pinch of garlic powder, stirred it all around thoroughly. Added some roughly chopped Sweetheart cabbage, clapped lid back on pan until it wilted slightly, mixed through and then fried a bit more until onions caramelised and some good BCBs forming.
Hearty peasant fare, but none the worse for that. And a great deal the better for a dash of Tabasco (the bottle I finally located virtually qualifies as an antique but tastes OK).
I have antique Tabasco & also L&P ovvan Venerable Age…
Carinthia.xx
L&P’s is said to improve with age; it should never be sold without having aged for two years first. This according to a programme on R4 a few years ago.
I don’t know about Tabasco, though.
Your own photie? Wowser!
