This gives you about the same chance of dying as flu affords every winter, really. This virus is neither inevitably caught nor inevitably fatal: in the controlled and confined population of the Diamond Princess cruise ship, that was made absolutely clear.
Thanks for posting that, Fishy. Fascinating.

Hmm
That showed some analysis
However as an at risk patient I will continue with self isolation as the sheer number of stair rods and anti biotics I have needed for chest infections not forgetting the hospital stays due to chesticle infections this winter have convinced me its no picinic this asthma thing
I bet corvid 19 would luuurve me
Yes, absolutely! it is just that for most people, it is no more dangerous than many another disease that hasnāt been hyped up as this one has.
Oh Lord yes, Twellsy. In fact we should all do our very best to limit the spread, for the sake of those who would otherwise die, because there will be some.
As a ābe careful what you wiish forā message,I am fond of

I know - Iām not particularly (or indeed at all) worried on my own behalf, but there are a quite a few people round here who would be vulnerable. I do get angry at the whole chain of self-serving attitudes that could put them at risk. I very nearly lost a very good friend (a chronic anaemic) to H1N1 a few years ago, so Iām rather less tolerant of the selfish attitude of some people than I might hitherto have been.
I utterly despise āIām all right Jackā in almost every form myself, especially since like Twellies I am in an at-risk category ā more than one, in fact ā though not as seriously as she is.
And yes, self-isolating.
But still inclined to prick the hysterical bubble when I encounter it, because I genuinely do not think that it helps anyone in any way.
Quite right, Joe, & people can be asymptomatic & still pass it to someone elseā¦

Iād rather people be hysterical and overreact by shutting themselves away unnecessarily than that they carry on as normal and make things worse.
My hope for the long term is for more work-from-home for people who can, relieving pressure on the transport system.
I have just had a 'phonecall from my GP Surgery cancelling my blood test, as itās non urgent, & to call in 3-4 weeks to see what the situation is.
They are now operating a telephone Triage system whereby a Dr will call you back & you may be invited to the surgery if your symptoms warrant it.

The manager of the local Lidlās Hitler Complex is coming along nicely. I imagine he will be privily done to death in the stockroom by his frazzled staff before the day is out.
There is such a thing as a middle ground, you know.
Mine has been running that for several years, Carinthia. You ring them, they tell a doctor, the doctor rings back some time to tell you what she reckons and give you an appointment, a prescription or a brush-off.
Facebook and Twitter users donāt do middle ground. Since we canāt remove Facebook, itās a matter of choosing which extreme.
As far as I am concerned, it is a question of telling people of fifty who are in such a state that they spent the evening crying for fear they will never see their grandchildren again that maybe it is not as bad as that. And people who are having panic attacks that there are ways to short-circuit those (tapping random bits of your body in a pattern of smacks is good, because apparently your brain canāt think about those and panic at the same time), and people who are terrified to leave their houses at all that it is actually ok to go for a walk in the local park as long as you donāt cosy up to anyone on the way there or when you are there, so walking the dog is probably not going to get you killedā¦
Here in our wee townland we are lucky enough to all help each other out and all the neighbours are kind enough to help with shopping
Not just food essentials like cat litter and beerā¦
Thatās happening here too, Twellsy
