So, who wants to help... to perpetuate the cellar?

I agree so much about some things being gorgeous on one person and revolting on another

So the Bull knows what very very few perfumes I like and nobody else buys me perfume so I am safe from disasters

I hope!

Perfect!

Mick Jagger once went slightly mad and bought an absolutely huge bottle of My Sin for Marianne’s mother, who couldn’t wear it because it brought her out in a rash. I suspect he meant well.

While he was wooing Marianne, Mick was sending twelve red roses a day to her house until eventually Eva took him to one side and suggested that since she couldn’t really afford to feed herself properly, a piece of steak would probably endear him to her more!

That’s just …unimaginative.

Not commenting specifically on the above story now, but I wonder for how many people red roses are actually a favourite flower. Or even a favourite rose.

Not me Gus

I like sunflowers and lavender and white roses and anthurrium lillies and sweet peas and all sorts of flowers

Favourite rose for looks is probably the Black Baccara:

No idea what it’s like for scent though.

Wee birdie that is a scentless rose

It was what my sister wanted for her wedding bouquet

I used a LOT of light leaves and flowers behind it so it would not be a black hole in photos

That is rather gorgeous, but they aren’t particularly fragrant, I don’t think.

If you want a red rose with a scent so wonderful that it makes your head swim, you could do worse than Ena Harkness. There was one in the garden when the family moved in 1953, and my mother cherished and tended it until we moved out in 1967; alas, it was too old to be transplanted to her new garden. I haven’t seen one for years, but I know they are still sold.

How am I supposed to knit a dog’s coat with a cable pattern when a cat is sitting on my wool pattern and cable needle?

You had me at ‘how am I supposed to knit’,Twellsy… :joy:

There is obviously a Mistake on your to-do list, Twellsy. The cat’s reads ‘15:00-16:30: sit on knitting stuff’, therefore your own is faulty. It should probably read something like ‘Bake chicken & poach fish for Deserving Felines’.

Ena Harkness is wonderful, Fishy. Uncle Walter is pretty good too. The bushes in my grandparents’ garden had a fabulous scent. Oddly, I remember the blooms as being much darker than growers’ pictures indicate.

I think they get darker as they get older. And a bit purply.

I’ve noticed that myself ;- )

Gus the cat in question is supposed to be losing a bit of weight so she is getting nowt but biccies until she is a svelte lady again

Please don’t do that. Give her less wet food, or diet wet food: but an all dry food diet really isn’t good for cats.
This isn’t just me being contrary, I promise. Ask in Cats Club on Peets about it.

Correction: The cat’s reads ‘00:00-23:59: sit where the feck I like’

Stinky meaty goodness isn’t selling it to me, Twellsy…

Apparently there are Craft Beers on sale at Lidl in England & Wales…
