Those of us heading off, unwillingly, for a civilised celebration of Ruth’s 50th are in for a pleasant surprise. It will not be the gracious event that Jennifer had hoped for.
A number of factors come into play here, but Kate, and an overheated friend of Pip’s, will do most of the heavy lifting. In fact, things go so far with Kate that there’s a later showdown between her and another ageing Ambridge wild child - Alice. Try to keep out of it if you can, as things will get nasty, and Kate, being very spiritual, doesn’t mind fighting dirty.
Rehearsals for the Pet Talent Show add further fuel to the flames, which the World Cup, and the naming of an as yet undelivered Ambridger, do little to quench.
