Who had the bright idea of having dialogue over a loud background of Snell yelling and Ruby barking. (Actually, they were both barking, but I digress…). And what the hell was Lavinia’s act that so embarrassed Alistair? Someone should tell them that sight gags really don’t work on radio.
The film is ‘Dirty Dancing’ (1987) starring Patrick Swayze & Jennifer Grey
It became a runaway success, & in the last ‘big’ scene, Grey & Swayze enter a dance competition. They dance to what became a Grammy Award -winning song called "(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life . Alaister told Neil that he most definitely did not have the time of his life with Lavinia .
Jennifer Grey takes a flying leap from the stage to be caught by Swayze, & they continue dancing. It’s actually very impressive
Fast- forward to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ 2012, & the Gymnast Louis Smith & his Professional dancer, Flavia recreated the scene for their Salsa
In another nod to ‘Strictly’ one of the Professional men is Anton Du Beke , which the SW changed to Anton Du Bark…
Well, that makes a lot more sense; in my listening I had the woman doing the leap and couldn’t work out whether the dog was supposed to catch her, or Alastair.
