Fallon's "Bunting" (…euphemism for something else?)

…well, Shrewsun said she recognised the fabric!

Oh, it must be Tracy’s birthday? (…she announced that she was going to take a bath!)

…and as Shrewun so wisely observed, “…some of us don’t have time for baths!” (…“Amen to that, ShrewsunCarter!” sez TheOldGrundgie)

Tatty and threadbare: nominations please, but also no descriptions or embroidery - one izza sensitive Gus wiv Shattered Nerves.

I did note Tracey buying scratchcsrds. Lazy classist scriptwriting or adding texture and interest to an occasional character? Discuss.

…yup! I can’t wait to learn of one of the TA stalwarts to receive news of a win (Megabucks or whatever they have on that side of t’Pond), perhaps the lucky winner is TheOldGrundgie who (…sadly (…or not)) expires with the excitement of the good news!), thus providing a rather neat solution to several recurring problems TheGrundgies always seem to be faced with!

We need much more Tracey—simply because Susie Riddell is an excellent actress. (Of course, that’s probably why she doesn’t feature that often)

No, joe, much as it pains me to disagree, we don’t. If La Riddell is an excellent actor, she’s not exerting herself in TA, imo. Rough as a badger’s arse superannuated slapper ain’t a challenging role. Equally, the poor bitch can only play what is written for her, to be fair.
The character can easily be done. Sorry, done without.

OK - I should have put that better. Susie Riddell is an excellent actress, so deserves a more prominent role, whether as Tracy or as a new character; she has the skills to develop the character further (though the SWs almost certainly *haven’t). Tracy gives her the opportunity of pricking Susan’s pretensions, which can only be a good thing. A decent SL for the Carter/Horrobins would bring three of the finest actors in TA together

Very true! …and to be honest, I think most listeners would settle for just a decent SL for any of the actors in TA!

On the whole, I find Tracy nauseating enough not to want to have too much of her, and Emma is a nasty person. As for Susan…

No, I think if they started to dominate the programme I might well stop listening. Enough is enough.

As long as she’s written as “comedy chav”, I’d agree, but the actor is capable of so much more. A decent SL featuring Emma, Susan and Tracy could be interesting.

It would be completely out of character, though.

A fair chance of it happening, then

Scenes of them, yes. Decent ones? You reckon the editorial team are capable of it?

They have managed some over the years. Can’t remember who wrote the AmEx featuring Alan and Michael, but it was streets ahead of anything that’s been in TA of late. It had nothing to do with TA apart from the characters’ names, of course; it would have been an excellent fit for the WH / 15’ Drama slot. It would probably have reached a wider audience without the TA association, too.

This bunting thing is getting extremely tedious.

I didn’t hear any of AmEx . I’m now wondering if I missed anything

The making everyone nasty & finding the bunting is doing my 'ead in, as they say…

‘oh, Puck-like theme’…

In Girl, 20, (Kingsley Amis) one character, a conductor, has a number of expletive-substitutes, or ‘fuckettes’. I am rather fond of that one.
