Too much to hope for

She would deserve it! A new horse, just delivered, she has no idea what it is like or what might spook it, and what does she do? Gets out her mobile.

You know that thing about not using the phone when you’re driving? Goes just as much for when you’re riding.

We always knew she had frod all idea about horses, though.

I thought that the motor bike spooked the pony

There was a motor bike? Missed that.

There was no motorbike, so that can’t have been it. Possibly Neil jumping up in eyeshot waving and shouting, though.

Microstroke could do it. [hopeful diagnosity]

We were told that the unfamiliar horse had been spooked by something Shula was unable to identify.

Can’t trust an experiential report from someone who’s had a microstroke.

I have a faint, very faint, hope that Shrewsan decided to take that wretched brat out for an airing and that the runaway horse trampled them good and proper, while the only ambulance for miles around was busy scraping up Shula. Well, it’s about as likely as an experienced rider, first time up on an unfamiliar mount, making bloody phonecalls.

“Do you hear something? Sounds like someone calling for help?”
“Oh, that’ll be a Horrobin. They have feral ones here, and they can make noises quite like people.”
