OK. Cross fingers.
Oh, one last question: I have the neutral grey thread which I’m sure is for the “jersey” backing-sheet side; should I get navy blue for the knitted stripes side?
There are people who sew everything with neutral grey, Fishy. I would probably use navy on top, & grey underneath.

Oh, hurrah! And it looks good as well; that makes me happy.
Happy grinnity. Second sock now under way!
And YOU don’t say “under weigh” either. Good.
And I’d say underway. Maybe that’s why I can’t knit. The sock looks fabulous!

[beady lookity] Did you really think I would? That hurts.
Thank you, wee Bee. It also feels fabulous. Really splendid wool.

No, I didn’t. I was glad to see it confirmed that another of One Of Us agrees with me and Chambers Dictionary 1988, which (under “weigh”) has “weigh, n, a variant of ‘way’ in the phrase ‘under way’, through confusion with the phrase ‘to weigh anchor’.”
That is a very handsome sock.
Such a pleasure when you discover an obedient yarn. Esp when it looks good too.
I only seem to find wild untameable beasties’ yarn
Some of the sheep in Ireland are definitely wild
Nice warm comfy socks are lovely
coooo!
I finished my current jumper last night and now need to find a pattern suited to 200m Pearl Grey DK, 200m Navy DK and 700m Forest Green DK. Viking Garn merino from Peru; I couldn’t resist the idea of having gone all the way to Finland to buy Norwegian yarn made using wool from Peruvian sheep.
