Laptop drive?

Well that’s at most £10 for a decent sized flash-drive. They’re as cheap as chips these days (see what I did there?), so why all of the fuss? It was mentioned four or five times.

I think maybe Simon Frith thought that it sounded Expensive?

And as we know, the most that Roy was able to stump up for his daughter was £5 plus a couple of quid in change. Which might just buy two drinks.

“A drive for my laptop” could be a USB stick, or it could be an actual component. But I don’t think any of these people are competent to swap computer components, even if they have laptops that can be upgraded; they’d hand it over to the bloke at PC World with a grunt that sounded vaguely like “fix it”.

Not that many young people have laptops these days anyway.

But even after paying Hayley for Abbie etc. He’s not exactly going to be short of cash. It’s not as if he was GG’s porter.

But here, she had the “drive and a couple of tops” there where Roy could see them and ask about them.

Yes. she could have had a 3.5" USB HDD but even then it’s hardly bank-breaking and if she needed it in a hurry, It is quite reasonable to mention it to her mother/g-mother. A 1TB drive is just over £40, a 500gb is around £33
I don’t know what she’d need one of those for.

The Death Ray, obviously.

(I think Ambridge could do with a Death Ray. The only thing that can stop a bad man with a Death Ray is a good man with a Death Ray, etc.)

Definitely a made up piece of ‘tech’. (maybe that’s why mirrors are required … for applying the make-up ?? … Yes, I’ll get my coat).

I did assume it was a passport type portable hard drive. I have a 2TB one for my music & photos, plus a physical file back-up as opposed to the Cloud. Cost about £70.

That’s decades of photos and about 15,000 albums and it’s just over half full.

Yeah, when Feral says “for my laptop” I tend to assume it’s a laptop-specific component, rather than something that could be plugged into any of the computers round here. So that may be misleading me.

I just assume that Feral wants Beer

It seems safer…
