In memory of Chris Rea, who died today. DD and I listened to this song while she wept over her first heartbreak. She’s fine now.

Really enjoyed that while I was making flapjacks.
(No, not ICBF. Just ordinary ones.)
Yer flapjacks are far from ordinary, wor Fish.
Don’t want a slurpy or a tofu dog, just a kebab.
I must say that despite quite liking the song I have a powerful urge to give ‘my friend’ a hearty ding upside the head.
Of course having removed the pith helmet. Do you take me for an amateur or something ?
Some things are popular for a reason…
Personally I am fond of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhM7qG7oXcw
But then I am a sucker for the Lovin’ Spoonful. Almost nobody I ever knew had heard of them, which probably helped.
That surprises me.
And me.
They were only really around between 1965 and 1967, and although they were big in the US I don’t think they reached the same popularity in the UK. Also they had too many styles, so it was hard for people to classify them; the Beatles and the Stones were just easier to explain, I suspect.
But I have clearly found my tribe, so whoopee!
I had at least heard of them before I met you, and could probably have placed at least one or two of the singles.
joe, you’re a pal! And I owe you a beer.
Love it!
