Here we hardly ever have frost so it is a serious insult to be floored by ice on the drive

I just removed a bag of grit on the porch which Mr Janie left for me to trip over as I go to the recycle bin. Now in its place, ironically, is the thin layer of ice which had accumulated underneath it. I’ve asked him to deal with that, but not by putting grit on it.
