We still have Soo, so no*; the priority now is to try to combine the flocks. It wasn’t possible when there were three roosters, but now it should be–with a certain amount of jockeying for position in the pecking order. If we can manage it, though, keeping them safe will be much easier.
*That said, we are pretty well certain to have a few among Penny’s Army…
That really wasn’t a ‘Like’, Joe…
I know that one has to expect these things, but Bluddy Ell

Oh joe, what a horrible series of losses. I’m so very sorry.
Does that hen often wear a flouncing frock?
Oh poor Bella
Polecats are horrible merciless killers
I hate them
So sorry Joe, that is heartbreaking.
I have just caught up with your poultry report, joe. Congratulations and commiserations and, yes, hope for the future!

Time for an update on the family, I think.
Penny’s been teaching them well. You may notice that they are not sitting behind her. This is quite an important lesson…
Lovely, joe. AttaPenny!
You may have noticed one is about twice the size of the rest, and rather spectacularly coloured. Almost certainly a rooster—note fairly well-developed comb and wattles. Also the almost inevitable Kiki feet…
Say hello to Bran:
Blimey, yes: those feet! His pedal extremities are enormous;- )
That first photo is gorgeous, Joe, it has a look of a rather splendid oil painting, somehow.
You’re not wrong! Detail in the bottom right-hand corner while the attention is mainly on the hoss being fettled/saddled/led out or the improbably glossy bull benevolently accepting a snack of daisies from an even more improbably white-petticoated girlchild…
Pure serendipity! The glare from the sun on Penny’s plumage was overpowering everything, so I had to reduce the exposure and adjust the white balance in Affinity. Wasrather pleased (and very surprised) at the result.
Never knock it.
Blimey, joe, those photies. Stunningly good, imho.

We may have lost Vicky…
…but I don’t think she’s going to be forgotten. Meet Vicky II, here with big brother Bran:
“What? I weren’t doin’ nuffink.”
Blimey, joe, the apple never falls far from the tree, does it?
Soo xx
