Poultry report

Apologies for rather sporadic appearances on here of late! Between rather a lot of travelling and nightmare deadlines, I’ve not had time to follow developments here!

A quick update - we had to give away one of the roos, Tysie. Was a bit too keen to live up to his name and was giving the actual head too, Tam (formerly Tammy…) a hard time. Tam, despite being twice Tysie’s size was constantly being attacked. Tam, unfortunately for him, is a pacifist… Anyway, we found a home for the thug where he’ll be the sole roo, so he’ll be happy!

Tam, meanwhile, has turned out to be Soo II:

The original of course, was from the days when they only came in black and white…

Lovely to hear about the roos

The ancestry is a tad hard to work out. Soo died back in April, but the eggs we hatched were from June, after the mink attack. Tam must be Soo’s grandson, but I have no idea of the route!

How could I have forgotten? The beautiful Sammy-Hannah, hatched back in 2018. Soo’s eldest daughter and protegée. At least one of the eggs we hatched was hers.

She’s a peach.

Just realised I still haven’t done an update on the new arrivals!

Introducing:

Miss Cuckoo

Miss Wendy:

And Miss Fidelma (“Fiddles” to her friends):

There’s something about the newest arrival that seems a bit different. Can’t quite put my finger on it though…

The vociferous Mr Cwackers!

Seems to be making friends, at least:

We found him a couple of friends, but he seems to be having a bit of an identity crisis…

Awww.

Please do not step in the puddle of melting Gus.

Careful - you really wouldn’t want to be a puddle in the vicinity of a group of ducks!
