So, who wants to help ... to cavort in the cellar?

Dear wee birdie we have midges and mosquitoes galore here How do you get them to follow one person?

I use the repellants that is issued with tropical medicine jabs and the Bull stays in his computer and ham radio cave

That is what they are doing today. Replacing the whole roof, after they demonstrated that the tiles were in fact pretty-much rotten and that we were lucky a large chunk of them had not come off all by themselves in a strong wind and taken at least one of the solar panels with them.

This is only the annexe roof, not one of the four wings of the main roof!

They reckon they can replace it, clean the solar panels, and have everything as it should be by the end of play today. To this end we have seven blokes working there, and they by Ghu are working, too.

How 1 job turns into another, eh?

Yeah. And I am seriously annoyed with myself; naturally the previous owner did not put in any insulation when he built that annexe, and if I’d thought for three seconds I’d have suggested that might be something worth doing while the roof was off.

I’ve rung the boss to see whether he has any in stock and could provide it, but no reply as yet.

Wouldn’t you/one have thought that they would have to do it anyway to comply with modern building regulations?

You would but they didn’t.

I wonder if the faulty roof area is less than 25% of the whole roof area and may not require attention to insulation etc. Loads of advice on-line from sources much more clued-in than yer bee, of course.

There was, and alas (because I thought of it too late) is, no insulation whatever, and absolutely all the tiles were wearing through (I saw them); the cheapskate who had the house before us and built the extension almost certainly used old tiles thirty years ago. So it’s 100% reconstruct. About the only things still happy are the beams, which seem to be the right size and shape for a wonder.

Had to go out to the post office. But there was,a duck on the stream! Not seen any there for ages.

The rest are too busy reading pornography and smoking cigars?

That’s the drakes. A mallard duck just sighs and swims away.

Meanwhile in Oregon…

That’s cats for you. Individualists even in a team.

The one here is very fed up with the workmen, at whom she looks in horror. When they drop anything too noisy, she comes away to find me and complain, loudly. Luckily they ought not to be too much longer.

I hope all is sorted to your satisfaction, Fishers.

Becoming accustomed to items dropping on the (new to us) laminate flooring may take a while. However, given the horrendous nocturnal trots  that Poodle had a while ago, I’d tolerate the clatters of other accidents in preference.

We had a grand time with Sis and BiL today. He cooked a delicious prawn dansak, Sis provided rice and chapatis and we took green beans (cooked to a recipe that I couldn’t possibly replicate) and all was good.
