Dear twin the nectar bar has roses Lillies crocosmia Lucifer ground cover geraniums and Angelica in full bloom so the bees drowsing around in the sun are showing evidence of a successful hive wherever their hive is

I just provide pollen and nectar and the bees and butterflies seem content

The baby robin likes the back of the bbq where oils and fat run off the cooking plates as s/he has found

As I said earlier the wee bird also likes crumbs from the table especially feta crumbs

Did Joe commission that sign?

It looks like some of the flock that own Joe posed for that

Or several were behind the artist directing with menaces aforethought

That Fish is now installed in its new Palace, and is swimming briskly around like a rich sardine in a private can. Because any water that is to go into the Palace has to stand for at least twenty-four hours to get rid of chemicals put into it by the water board, the Palace is about one-third full and will get another third tomorrow (we lack containers for water, and my suggestion of a dustbin was vetoed because they are all filthy and the labour of washing them out would be too much like seriously hard work), and my next task relating to the comfort and well-being of That Fish is to find four 95cm lengths of a suitable material to make a frame to go over the Palace, with a fine mesh fixed to it to keep out leaves and spiders and other unnecessary adjuncts to the Fishly Existence.

I think two-thirds full may well be all That Fish requires, given that the old palace had a 300 litre capacity and the new one is 500 litres. We shall see. It might fill up to overflowing in the winter, after all, and the water board keep sending me annoying text messages saying how glad they are that I am being careful about water usage in these parlous times of drought, or words to that effect. If they had a number to reply, I would tell them that I might do so when they stop pouring raw sewage into the local waterways and making those unsafe for human use. They took the government grant intended for treatment plants and spent it on dividends for their shareholders, and I have no time for their wheedling weasel words.

I have a new Object of Wrath tonight: shops which put sticky labels on both sides of things they are selling, and the sticky is of the sort you can’t budge even with isopropanol.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

I wheeled the Noo Tumbril round to Bryan the Blessèd this afternoon, to check that I had tightened the wheel nuts properly, & to make sure that it would stow away in his car boot.

The spanner provided was one of those stamped out of a sheet of metal, & very hard on the hands.

It wheeled like a dream.

When Himself and I were assembling the magnificent cat tree, he was delighted to find one such in a baggie labelled ‘tool’. Then the cat climbed him to get to the top of the structure that had not yet been topped off. All good clean fun, wiv added whisky.

Aldi things like little plant staging tables flat pack things have Allen keys for assembly

My hammock needs many spanners applied to nuts washers and bolts to assemble it

It’s from Poland so it’s meaty glue laminate steam bent frame that feels secure

And the flopping swaying bit is lightly padded and breathable fabric

Have I mentioned that I love my hammock?
