I remember when that was true, but every time I’ve been there in the last twenty years or so, they’ve had a tiny selection that didn’t include anything with the features I wanted.
Possibly I want very strange things these days.

You may well be right there, Dunnock.
I remember Cole Bros in Sheffield, which was our nearest JL, & wonderful. It was worth a day out on the ‘bus or train, with lunch in their restaurant.
If we didn’t buy anything, simply walking round & getting ideas was brilliant, & it was often the cheapest because of their ‘never knowingly undersold’ policy.

Edited to correct typo.
We don’t have blinds
We have Bengals
Fishy, after abit of digging, I have just found what you want on the Dunelm site. Faux wood, 25mm slats, £45.
You can order instore & return them if they aren’t right. As I said before, you might have to accept that the fixings may have to be adjusted.

You are very kind. I shall take the old mattress to the tip and not go and buy a blind!
Yerran Fish
Can you manage the mattress on your own? They are very unwieldy & heavy.

There’s a trick to that. We load it into the back of the car together. Then one of us goes and looks all weak and feeble to the nice young men at the tip.
Clever that…
There will be Sossinge sandwiches in 20 minutes

That’s exactly what I said to our floor-laying chap, earlier in the week. He was explaining to me that he didn’t think he’d solved the squeaky bit of floor in the living room and I told him that 50% of the residents of this household are not worried about a squeak. Just sayin’.
The doorbell sounded at 07.20 today. It was our table and chairs delivery people. Mr Bee is officially my hero, as he answered the door (clad only in his dressing gown) and supervised events without involving me at all. The builders turned up shortly after (boring remedial stuff) and will return tomorrow, bright and early. Supper will be Keralan cod with roasted sprouts, cavolo nero and rice.

I too was up at the crack of stupid this morning, fully clothed, as a van was coming to take Stuff away any time from 0730 on. Two NYM - well, I say ‘young men’ but one was basically an embryo in work boots - turned up at around half eight, which was pleasing. Didn’t take them long to shift it, either.
That’s a Great Good Thing, that is.
Oooof flump!
I was at ye olde plague pit having my lung function tested and then was x rayed chest and sinuses
Then I visited the vampire and had only 8 vials full of blud taken to amuse the lab folk
Then I found that the leftover pork joint was hooj so I have a dinner ding as well as a dinner for tonight
Lovely J wielded her knife and did the cooking of a rather lovely sweet and sour pork - a Friday night fakeaway a la me
Beer might happen soon
Now that sounds rather splendid. Let the vampires laugh their fill. I hope they were gentle, or at least efficient.

Apparently the “Legends of the Titanic” exhibition is being marketed as an “Immersive Experience”. Well, yes.
