Afternoon, all.

The builders have left the premises and we’ve cleared up after them. Mostly, as the driveway needs a good scrubbing. The work was good enough, but I had a bit ovvan stand-off regarding the tumble-dryer vent…

Dinner will be prawn and scallop stir-fry with egg noodles. I find that there is something calming about using chopsticks. Tomorrow, we’ll have the joy of walking around pumpkin fields with GS. In the rain, but that won’t bother him (the wee tyke).

I hope that the Fishly mattress was comfy.

Hurrah for departed builders! Maybe if you expect rain tomorrow, the driveway will be cleaned a bit by that…

Very.

Good to hear about departed builders and comfy Fish

I have been spice buying and having my nails done

I went for a Halloween theme so dayglo orange with a very very subtle purple and pink shimmery sparkly top coat

Just enough to scare the ghouls and ghosties and long leggedity beasties…

Particularly when used to poke irritating persons in the eye? Or is that just me?

No, Dear Gus, itizz not. But I’ve recovered from the tumble-dryer irritation - particularly because I prevailed.

There is a horror story on Mumsnet, Soo, about a vendor who accepted the offer and only when all the paperwork was going through informed the buyers that they proposed to remove and take with them

all the light fixtures
the big mirror in the bathroom
all the radiators.

I call this a cheek on a par with the cheapskates who left one flat we moved into with no looroll (which we had expected, they were that sort of people) and, as we discovered when we moved in, every single lightbulb whether 60W, 100W or 150W swapped for the 40W ones they left for us.

I didn’t know until then that it was even possible to get 40W lightbulbs.

Ah, you may never have had to live in the right sort of grotty flat. Very popular in halls and on stairs. I visited a lot of friends in places like that; it’s one reason I got into the habit of carrying a torch.

I once saw a place that had been fitted with 20W bulbs.

Halls and stairs, of course, being the places where you absolutely need to be able to see where you are going, stairs in particular.

Meanwhile I once visited a friend who’d just moved into a new place. He was about to install a 500W bulb in the paper shade. We recoiled. He asked, “don’t you think that’ll be enough?”

40W bulbs in bedside lights when I was growing up.

That was when we were deemed to be old enuff fer bedside lights!

I had a 15w nightlight in my room bought by my Grandma because I am scared of the dark

It was in the shape of a toadstool with a fairy house in it

I adored both of my Grandmas who were so loving to me

Pumpkin wanderings were surprisingly fun and, even more surprisingly, free of rain. Yay! We saw ghosts, skeletons, witches, bats and spiders and youngun enjoyed it all. Toasting marshmallows with the witches and scranning freshly fried churros with chocolate sauce were also hits. Pumpkins were picked and paid for and all was good.

Hope all is well with you lot.
