Bacon butties?
Bluddy hell! A buzzard flying straight into a french window makes one heck of a bang. Frightened me half to death.
Ooh, that looks good. Almost worth it.
The buzzard seemed to be fine after a couple of minutes recovery time btw, though it has left a very artistic looking dusty impression on the window, complete with upward-curving outstretched wings.
Don’t it just! Well, ours was a peregrine, which hit the glass pigeon-first and stunned itself, staggered around on the stoep for a bit plucking feathers from said dead pigeon for all the world like a cat that has fallen off something and is trying to make you believe that it meant to do that, and eventually flew off with its lunch.
I had a sparrer hawk doing the head butting of the double glazing and landing on its back
It sounded like a gunshot
I was torn between seeing if the bird was hurt or taking cover as I was still in RUC mode and a bit nervous of loud bangs nearby
Do we mention sparrer hawks in here? We wouldn’t want to make anyone nervous, would we?
‘Oo’d she fink she is, ven? Dook of bleedin’ Wellinton?’
No need to spare me feelins. I’ll just be under this chaise wiv the [peckity] [peckity] leakin’’ gin pipe.
Respeck. That would be an heck ovvan thwack. Our biggest was a female sparrowhawk marmelising a pigeon against our old patio doors.

Here is a magpie from yesterday, which I accidentally caught just as it was being Bovvered by a pigeon (out of shot to the right).
I thought of not mentioning sparrer hawks but then I thought of our sparrer’s bruvver and dropped some copper coins in the sparrowhawk preservation charity box
Budge up and share the leaky gin pipe wee birdie
I am bearing a platter of spiced nuts olives hummus cornichons and feta cubes with a toasted ciabatta and garlicky butter
There are even roast elephant garlic cloves
I was wrong about that. It was merely a spawk, it seems. Sorry…
And a damaged window, by the look of it. Ours remained intact.
No, that was pigeon-remains and washed off, thank goodness.
Indeed.
Whinge alert…
Never mind - builders and their delays/illnesses between Embra and here - much too boring for words. We took ourselves off to Musselburgh for a scrummy meal (scallops were involved) by way of justice and one ovvus had a naice whaite (hic).

Good fer one of yez. And hurrah fer scallops forra Bee at long last. Boo to the rest ovvit.
