So, who wants to help ... to cower in the cellar?

And she is both calm and organised. And very good luck to her. No, she won’t win.

But for reasons that I haven’t quite worked out, she irritates the bejaysus out of me (probably reminds me of someone).

Yes, please, Carinthia. I’ll take it up the aples and pears. As tomorrow is forecast for gale-force winds, I shall nail myself to a seat at the kitchen table and write cards. And more cards.

Good nights, all.

That’s all right, we have some handy buffer zones called “Ireland” and “Wales” for it to blow itself out on.

It’s ONLY violent storm 11 in our sea area and that lump that was caused by Finn McCool trying to blatter Fingal in Scotland is going to get rather breezy too

Them of us as lives on the great whale road are used to the light breezes that caused Albion to grind to a halt!

Same here Twellsy, being a small island we do suffer from the wind rather a lot whatever direction it is coming from, we usually expect an 11 or higher 3 or 4 times a month in autumn and winter. I don’t suppose we catch the wind off the Atlantic quite as much as you but we do have the additional problem of empty supermarket shelves when it is too much for the boat to sail - panic buying is not at all uncommon.

221 square miles, should be no problem to hit that with a trebuchet-load of vital (glug) supplies…

Bless you little sparrow, what would I do without you? I’ll keep it quiet though, you’ll be kept very busy if word gets around - not for nothing are the Manx referred to as 80,000 alcoholics clinging to a rock in the Irish Sea.

The place I grew up in is referred to in a lonely planet guide as 5000 screaming alcoholics hanging onto a rock in the N Atlantic drinking for dear life in a mere 20 pubs

That’s not counting the restaurants…

We do have a lot in common, Twellsy. It’s good though, the way I see it, we can drink as much as we like and, if challenged, say we are just staying true to our cultural roots.
