I have been to the butcher for a treat for us to celebrate

The Bull is stopping his carer’s allowance as he has been offered and accepted a job working remotely

Almost tailor made for our circumstances

We are having a nice steak and a decent rioja and chips

That seems like good news, worthy of a steak.

Try wrapping those in newspaper!

Excellent news, Twellsy

I am battling with GOV.UK trying to obtain information for my financial advisor & solicitor. I have a couple of specific questions to which I need answers, but both 'phone numbers I have been given are only dealing with ‘urgent & sudden’ enquiries about bereavement,& the like .
The stuff that is being ignored in the name of Covid is amazing. I will gather myself, & try to wrangle with the website again.

Rare steak, & lots of Rioja, please…

Well, the unavailability of anything that people don’t feel like doing can be blamed on COVID…

Either that or on the lorry-drivers, who clearly are not delivering the GOV UK website quickly enough.

Great news, Twellsy. Enjoy your celebration.

A bit of good news is that Mr C’s Church has been appointed to accept difficult to recycle waste, including the dreaded pill packets…

Accepted with alacrity, Carinthia.

I so sympathise with this view and I’m sorry for the extra troubles provided by people just not doing their bluddy jobs. Jeepers…

Good news for Twellsy and Yon Bull!

Happy, still-birthday Fishers xx

Today, I went to Morpeth to have a ring cut off my right middle finger. Itizz my Granny’s wedding ring and I have worn it for decades. Unfortunately, my joints have swollen, somewhat, and that - along with my wedding ring - just had to be removed (I did my wedding ring myself). I was relieved to have Granny’s ring removed, but sad, too…at least we didn’t cut through the hallmark

Oh. I’m sorry, Soo; I have to be careful about that, because my wedding ring is titanium, so cutting it off would be a bit difficult. I have to make sure every day to check that I can get it off. If there comes a day when it is difficult, I’ll just have to wear it on a chain round my neck thereafter.

I’ve had no trouble until this bogging summer, Fishers.

A length of narrow stretchy stuff (look for ‘undertaker’s method’) is your friend for stuck rings.

The wearing on a chain round neck is fine for rings, not so good for heads of small boys stuck in the railings. Apparently their mothers create quite the stink. As indeed do the heads, after a bit.

I wonder if kids still present at A&E/get the fire brigade called out for the classic cartoon emergency of ‘saucepan stuck on head’.

I had to have my rings cut orff more than 15 years ago, as I had an infection under my engagement ring. This was done at BiL’s shop.

I wept

Didn’t have them resized to the larger version for 2 years, & really missed wearing them.

Have hardly worn them in the last 4 years, & not at all for the last 2, as the illness has made my fingers misshapen, & they are not a good idea with compression gloves.

I haven’t wept about this, as there have been more important things to weep about.

I used it, to no avail, Gus. Undertakers have the advantage of purloining from very chilled individuals…

That sentence perfectly encapsulates the difference between disinterested and uninterested

And I only really bake bread, as I always end up having to eat most of any cake I make myself, which is not good for me.

A shame, what with all the fresh eggs…

When I was first in hospital with a blood clot on the brain (just after we got married) I refused to let anyone take my engagement and wedding rigs off until Yon Bull got home from Saudi

I gave my rings to him to keep safe until I stopped swelling up

I also have my grandma’s ring on my right hand and it stays there until I cannot wear it

Funny how a bit of heavy metal means so much innit?
