So, who wants to help ... to flummox the cellar?

The knife “dose” (sic) “not come with the item”, alas.

Electric food slicers terrify me.

We only had two bread-knives already. However will we cope?

Three; there is one we don’t use sitting in a drawer Just in Case.

I have tried to take away the second but I am unsure with how much success.

There are always ‘favoured’ knives, aren’t there?
The long-time favourite here is 1 which BiL had to buy in Menorca, as the knives in the apartment were rubbish for the cutting of Bacon Sandwiches…

Either of us might drop the other one while crossing a river on the way back from a concrete-pouring construction site. For example.

Electric food slicers are standard equipment in most Middle European kitchens. People even bring them to the campsite, as they like their Meat/Wurst/Bread cut just so.

30 odd years ago I watched a friend use hers to slice onions, an whole cabbage & then bread, to clean it after the damp stuff.

After my mother had used the mincer on the remains of the weekend roast she would put an onion (to go in the mince) and then a slice of bread through it, the last being to dry it out.

My very favourite knife is a replacement for the one which my mother inherited from Annie-the-Cook of her childhood; that fell on the floor here and broke. This one was a large table-knife with an ivorine handle, most comfortable to hold; I ran it several times through the knife-sharpener, and it has and keeps the best edge of any I own.

Heh! It only took me 16 minutes to get through to my GP practice.
Flu jab Saturday.

My favourite knife is a 12" long Victorinox steel number

It just fits my hand

The bread knives are a Masterchef one and a Kitchen devils one

Mine are a present from my mother of unknown probably 1930s origin, Ikea, and a charity shop back in the days when those were allowed to sell pointy things at all.

I was very happy when I discovered that you can sharpen a wavy-blade knife using the usual up-on-the-wall sharpener.

I bought my cook’s knife in a catering supply shop

the best 70 yo-yos I spent in the line of kitchen equipment

It’s strong and flexible and sharpens easily then holds an edge well

I love it

I do also have ceramic knives from Lidaldi and they are great especially for salad veg

I rather enjoyed this little spark of unintentional honesty from eFlow this evening (for clarity, it reads from top to bottom):

To be fair, they did actually respond before it was updated, and were very helpful.

I am here to report that it does help.

As do hugs, hankies, candles and sympathy*, thanks all.

*But especially gin.

Well…I 'phoned the surgery this morning and they managed to find an interim microscopy result which wozz (Mr Bee, Microbiologist, could not believe) ‘unknown’. Apparently, the ‘full result’ should be available tomorrow. I have done nothing for several days and have downed gallons of water so I’m coping. Thank you, Dear xx

Fingers crossed for tomorrow then. ‘Coping’ is all very well but you deserve better.

As do you, TFM.
I do hope that one day (and with a following wind) we may all be able to meet up somewhere. There is so much else to discuss (apart from my transient problems)! Meanwhile:
