Everybody I have ever known of any age has insisted on being both reckless and independent; it’s only when someone is over, say, seventy-five that this starts to be regarded as being unreasonable.
You only have to look at driving standards and automobile maintenance to know how utterly careless scads and hordes of the adult population are of both their own survival and the safety of others… A mere rug on the floor is a bagatelle in comparison.
