Very good thought. Thank you. (Just bread, butter and bacon is what suits me at this time of day.)

Does the sparrer want bacon butties or do I turn off the cooker?

When I was a child, & bacon fat was the proper stuff, people used to arsk for their bread to be dipped innit, instead of having it buttered.

My mother saved bacon fat in a mug whose handle had broken off, and we used to spread it on a slice of bread when we got home from school in the afternoon – to stave off the pangs of hunger until tea-time half an hour or so later.

Mam’s ‘bacon fat mug’ was yellow-and-white striped, also with a missing handle…

Ours was a sort of fake willow-pattern. Thinking about it, it was fairly hideous and had almost certainly been a present from one of us children in the first place, but since it held the bacon fat it was lovely in my eyes.

My Sis was the one for the bacon fat - I wonder if she half-inched that mug…
Memories of cooked breakfast smells drifting down the corridor to where I was hiding in my room

1 broken handled mug fer bacon fat, & another fer pork dripping at Grandma’s house.

I didn’t like either, but, be that azzit may, ‘good’ fat was always saved for cooking.

I have just ordered a perforated loaf tin for guaranteed crustiness.

The straight-sided tin gives the sharper corners, & always looks crusty.

Bread can be really temperamental though.

A bit like people really…

Made pizza for everyone last night.

Well everyone except me. I had calzone involontario

At what point in the process did that happen, Joe?

Transferring from paddle to stone. Should have been a bit more generous with the semolina…

Tasted fine though. Home-grown tomatoes and green peppers, proper Italian pepperoni, ham, fresh mozzarella, black olives…

Now, now - crusts, Dear, crusts  The pizza does sound good, mind.

Sushi for dinner - Mr Bee will have a curry takeaway. It seems I have Covid and I can’t be arsked to cook. Off for an lie-down.
