So, who wants to help ... to frivol in the cellar? (Part 2)

Gus dear heart spaniels are meant to swim out and retrieve the ducks you have shot

Not, I suspect, when they have been shaved practically bald, though.

I had never seen that done to a spaniel before this century; when did it start?

No

A working gun dog is kept au naturel with maybe a light trim to stop their coats from being so l ong it snags ob the vegetation or mats with mud

I’m beginning to wish I’d not posted the photie. Tilly is fine. And I didn’t make the clipping decision. And I do know what gin dogs do.

One never sees water spaniels these days (along Maria lines, for RM devotees).

One of the many Aunts kept spaniels all her life and never as far as I know had one shaved so all the hair they had left was that most likely to tangle and get matted (ears and tail). The two at the pub up the road used to have this done to them but I think it was only in summer; in winter they were left warm, and I only knew them this century. So I am just interested to know when the fashion started.

Her ears have been significantly declumped. The tail I have not observed at rest.

Dear Sparrer,
I say this with friendship, gratitude and love:

bog off! it was a genuine typo.

She wants to be an Onion Ring dog but is not allowed

Aren’t onions another thing that has been discovered to be Pure Poison to dogs? N-propyl disulfide or some such.

(I suspect that a gin dog looks cross-eyed, crosses its legs and falls over.)

Explains that you’re its best mate, then tries to start a fight with you.
