So, who wants to help ... to frivol in the cellar? (Part 2)

It works well for cooling wine bottles when a handy rock pool isn’t around

Yes my yoof was wasted messing around in/on/under the water

As a direct result of this conversation I have just bought a butter-dish whose base is a thick slab of marble; this may keep butter from becoming a puddle in the summer.

Is it big enough for a whole pound of butter without shaving the block somewhat?

Butter in this country doesn’t come by the pound so it doesn’t need to be.

It does here so I am always on the look out for a proper dish with lid

I’d be inclined to cut a pound block in half and keep half in the fridge anyway; a pound of butter is a lot to keep out.

That’s a nice looking dish, Fishy.

I like to keep butter ready to cook with handy as I can be doing lots of things needing butter in any given day and waiting for it to become useable is a pain

Gawds, that led me down an rabbit hole! An Le Creuset butter dish which weighs .9kg costs £40!

751g for the base, 468g for lid. It’s a very solid thing.

Fat-shaming butter dishes now? Mumsnet is that way :arrow_right:

My dear, in this context “solid” is high praise!

My friend W and I decided last night that we are beyond fat shaming

We will enjoy life whatever size we are!

She is a good 8" shorter than I and a size or two up

We feel our presence adds gravity to proceedings

P is W’s husband and he and the Bull are built like matchsticks!

I have an Le Creuset look - alike casserole for which I need 2 hands even when itizz empty. I know that the butter dish isn’t cast iron, but it would be begging me to drop the Bluddy lid, or summat…

I have just weighed our Le Creuset butter dish and it came to 851g - the base weighs 360g and the lid 491g. I very much like it - smart and practical.

I have designs on the Fishly butter dish
I foresee hours googling

Home now and my lovely Bull saw a pretty rhodium plated silver necklace with an Austrian silver crystal dragonfly pendant and he bought it as a wee surprise present for me

Cue P telling my Bull that he is spoiling life for the other husbands as their wives will start wanting to be spoiled by them

My Bull just smiles and carries on looking for things that I might like
