The tiny shower room is only for the five in our semi private room
The disabled wet room is 15 metres away and so a distant ambition for most of us
If we could sprint in the millisecond between the notion that the pill is working and absolutely having to go right now!!!
Now stop sniggering Gus

The wet corridor , however…
Being serious, that does sound far from ideal, Twellsy. Commiserations.

Ach it’s a hundred year old building that is squeezing twice or thrice the numbers envisioned into the available room
And when it was built the idea of many toilets was not thought of as needed
So a retro fitted shower room is the least of our worries
Especially about an hour after the morning drugs are taken
It’s just fun to see us all not looking at each other and talking about deserts and all things dry

Or in this particular instance, five times. (Unless you’re all very good friends…?)

Joe dear
We all hung up our dignity at the nurses station when we were admitted
If we are good they will return it as we leave
The five of us in here are getting on famously
Last night we had a Halloween dance round our drip stands and slurped a whole glass of water each to wash down the brack we were offered at 8pm
We know how to live in our room

Kindest wishes to you and your fellow inmates, Twellsy.
I have (largely) spent my day skyping, zooming and 'phoning people who are becoming a bit anxious about stuff. Also did some shopping.
Good nights, all,
Soo xx

Varies massively. £1.20 to about £2.50, more if you are going organic: ground by virgins & packed by angels adds at least £1.00 to the upper price. Bulk purchase, much cheaper.

Me long stays are in the third drawer down. Gathering dust, moths and their strength.
Feck knows where the broom is. Probably off somewhere with the iron.

That can vary a lot. My usual supplier is inaccessible at the mo, but it used to be about €2.
ETA - Sorry Gus. You must have posted while I was checking online.
Absolutely right about buying in bulk if you can justify it - I always get 25kg sacks of the French T65 I use for bread. It’s pretty much for nothing compared to even own-brand rubbish - about €1/kg

Thanks Dahlink
Is Type “00” fer pasta or pizza?
I paid £1-10 forrit, not that I am making anything fancy with it, just needed plain flour for the usual sauces* & odds & sods, & the cupboard is almost bare.
*I bought more cornflour last week

That is definitely at the bargainous end of 00 pricing.
It might not be so great in cakes or some pastry types, but will do in a sauce.
Higher protein than normal plain flour, so behaves a bit differently.

Now the helpful reply. It’s used for both. The 00 refers to the fineness of the milling - it’s like talcum powder.

I should have said that the GOOD stuff is higher protein… But yes, 00 designates the fineness.

Thank-you both.
This was from the local ‘One Stop’, where I get my newspaper, & they often have real bargains.
