So, who wants to help... to perpetuate the cellar?

You need any normous gnats?

I have a lot in the garden that I could sell for free…

Yer bees have been lounging about in the shade all afternoon. Azz softy northerners, itizz too darned hot for us.

I am much taken with ‘Moishe’s Bagel’, a world music band (they describe their music as “jazz-inflected klezmer and Balkan music”), formed in Edinburgh. Already possessing one of their cds, I have ordered a further two. Makes me happy.

Have a wonderful tea-time, Gus. A bit of socialising can be a grand thing.

I will be seeing my DiL tomorrow afternoon socially distanced in her garden.
I will take her the masks I have made & will make some smoked mackerel pate for her too.

She loves it, & fish in general. The Lad stops at fish fingers…

His loss, Carinthia  . I am certain that you’ll enjoy your time with DiL and that she’ll enjoy the paté.

Dinner calls. I plan stir-fried mushrooms and bell pepers with mustard seed rice and griddled sweet gem lettuce (needs using).

Buzzing about in Old Luxters, as I have been, the realisation came to me that I should go to bed. What chance sleep? Best nights, Cellarites,

I DID order sun but I got clouds and thunder storm warnings…

Swap weather with you sparrer?

Absolutely. They keep changing their minds. Today we’re right on the edge of the Yellow Thunderstorm Warning area; tomorrow we’re inside it, but so’s the whole of the UK.

(And I use the term advisedly. They’re clearly drawing the boundaries automatically - someone puts in county X, county Y, county Z, and it draws a shape that fits round all of them. Which means that rather than an actual map of a storm track you get this thing that implies Ireland and mainland Europe never have weather at all…)

Our weather warnings

The humidity here is 90% and rising

I am finishing off my skirt and pressing it under a wet cloth to help the heat and humidity along…

It is predicted to get up to 26 even here today, which is very unusual, and thunder expected tonight - also unusual.

Don’t like it! The temperature I mean, I don’t mind thunder, though I’d prefer it not to wake me up in the middle of the night.

Our hovel has a double glazed conservatory the full length of the house on the south side

So the heat can get up to 35 easily and 40 without too much effort on a sunny day

Hence I cook outdoors most of the time in summer

I am going to try to cook a pizza on a pizza stone in the BBQ some time soon

I’m happy to volunteer to test the pizza for you, it’ll be no trouble, honest.

And we are being warned of 31. Too hot, even for me.

If like me you left your windows open, it’s helpful to be woken up to close them when the rain starts.

“Local weather for local people”
I blame B****t…

Bob Quinn’s (already dubious) series Atlanteans lost me in the first couple of minutes when he tried to claim the lack of Irish (Republic) weather on BBC maps as evidence of racism. Nothing to do with the fact that they have to pay the Met Office for forecasts per region and there are no licence payers here, of course.
