So, who wants to help... to perpetuate the cellar?

Been bitten that way before. Unless it 's baking, one can generally work out what should be going on, but it is most irritating.

At least I caught it this time. But that was only because for once I was being a good boy and laid out all the ingredients before I started. The omission was fairly obvious. Actually, it was just oregano in a pressure cooker pizza sauce, so I just fecked it in with everything else. Could easily have missed it, though.

Agreed.

… & I bought ‘Riders on the Storm’ a matter of weeks before he died. Given ghat it had no guitar on it it’s some going that it remains in my all-time top singles.

I bought my first ever record with my own money that year … T.Rex’s ‘Ride a White Swan’. I got a radio for Christman 1970 & I was off.

Took to buying ex-juke box singles for 5p a go, rather than fresh ones for 50p. I must has amassed over 100 by year end. By flipping through boxes of those, 2 or 3 times a week my love affair with record labels began.

It was a good time to be a rock fan … lets forget Grandad, Ernie & fhe like.

You haven’t lived until you have heard a tuneful 3-year-old singing along with “Riders on the Storm” in the car… I am serious about tuneful: he hit the right notes, just a couple of octaves high.

I am now listening to The Doors. Gosh - the memories this evokes! Thinking back, I was very fortunate in having such an eclectic bunch of friends, whose musical tastes were a huge influence upon mine. Happy days.

Natural talent.

He can still sing; when he was living there he ended up in the Winchester Cathedral choir for a while.

Are you BBQ’g the Amaryllis ??

Himself ‘gave’ the Ma an amaryllis back in 2002 or thereabouts. The bugger is still going strong. She is very fond of it, and each time it blooms, I hear about ___‘s amaryllis’. I haven’t the heart to tell her that I bought it on impulse in response to a panicked phone call while I was out shopping on Christmas Eve (‘Christ, darling, I was going to get something else for your mother…’).

Not sure he ever got around to paying me for it, either :no_mouth:

Thank you, Darling.
Sorry if that came across as sad. Or bitter. Actually, I find it quietly (well, it has to be completely silently after all this time, obviously) amusing.

I am making French Onion Soup, which, of course, calls for Dry Whaite Waine…

It would be rude not to taste it, wouldn’t it?

“Neither a borrower nor a lender be" seems a tad trite, in these circumstances.

We enjoyed a good walk, this arvo, and Mr Bee may share waterfowl pics, tomorrow. Viewed beloved Son and DiL, on Skype and we’ll do just that with beloved Daughter and SiL, tomorrow. I’ll request a Poodle pic.

Good nights, Cellarites,

Looking forward, as ever to Mr Bee’s Photies

That Birdie takes some lovely ones too.

It has been brighter than I have felt, here, today, but not warm.

I had a heart-stopping moment this evening when someone sent a message arsking if I knew his brother. I replied, cautiously, that I did.

It was ok, he only wanted to let me know that he’s had/having a great career in America.

My first thought was that he was about to tell me the worst news, which is awful, but I am getting an Oh Bitchery a week ATM, & it ain’t nice

Not sure about the Waine

Pours another…
