Glorious lashing rain!

Told you I would send you some rain!
I was thinking Garden Centre meself, Fishy, as there are lots of terracotta fancy hanging bits about.
Then I had my first coffee, & started Ponderingā¦
After my second coffee, I remembered that I have terracotta Baking Beans
Actually, terracotta Baking Beans stamped with a small bird, & living in an antique Tupperware boxā¦
As I will never again bake a pastry case blind I propose to find them, wash them, count them & distribute them amongst Needy Cellar Dwellers

We could have them as a sort of Sign for a Secret Society.

Talking of baking
I have a 3lb loaf in the oven
A simple dough of strong white flour with butter rubbed in an luke warm milk with sugar and fresh yeast dissolved into it
So sir will dine upon BLT tonight
Well, we use enough brown sugar (on porridge) for it not to be a problem here; the stuff never really gets a chance to seize up. But it is a good thought!
My sugar is bought in the local cash and carry in 5lb bags for when I need to bake for ABI
Sadly the bake sale was abandoned this year due to the wretched corvid - you do not expose a lot of very vulnerable folk to any risk you can avoid
When clearing out the cupboard over the fridge a year or so ago, I found two or three bags of rock hard brown sugar. It seems Mr Janie would just buy another package, use about one eighth of it, have that one go hard ⦠and so on.
I tried softening it in the microwave, putting it next to a small bowl of water. That worked sort of, but microwave heat isnāt even, so some parts of the bag of sugar would start to melt.
Then a friend just happened to have an extra one of those terracotta thingies in his car - as one does, I suppose - and gave it to me. I was most sceptical at first but amazed that it not only keeps brown sugar soft but will, with patience, soften the rock-hard kind.
I donāt understand why they see no longer to be available in the UK. Could it be a good safety issue?
Of course you donāt, Twellsy
There has been an awful lot of effort made, for & on behalf of vulnerable people.
Our 15 Orsepiss Shops are slowly & carefully being opened. The depot has received almost 6,000 bags of stuff which has to be quarantined for 72 hours before being dealt with, so I am hanging fire with my bags.

Apparently you can get one on Amazon UK.

It is French.
Yes, a lot of sorting out has been done during lockdown. Here in Ottawa people were inconsiderately dropping off stuff into already full bins and letting them rot. Someone went and nobly picked out some of the good stuff, sorted and cleansed it and set about finding good homes for it, but that was tip of the iceberg, Iām afraid.
Iāve been doing a little clearing out myself, but Iāve concluded that it mostly consisted of moving things around, no net loss, sadly.
But why arenāt they selling them in shops? Youād think everyone could use one!
Not that they are necessarily easy to find here.
Sorting into bags and boxes to go, and keeping them in oneās own house, is about all there is to be done. Oh, and taking real trash to the tip, now those have been open for a couple of weeks in this area and so the initial rush is over.
Etsy & Amazon sell them here, Janie. Lakeland donāt have them any more.
Our tip is open, but only for certain things which cannot safely be stored at home, & only on certain days. It depends on the car registration number. If it ends in an odd number then itās 1 day, an even number, the next

Well, if one can have a salt-pig, why not?

Good Gus
Nice Gussy
Chucks the several boxes with stones and stones of baking goods at Gus
I think that a photo of the loaf I made today will happen
I am proud of itā¦
