Tomorrow, we’ll be accompanying a friend to a Lebanese restaurant. She hasn’t sampled any food of that ilk but, given that she has no sense of taste or smell, we need colour and texture to tempt her.
I’m off to bed. Best dreams, Cellarites,

Well, enjoy it anyway, but for the company and ambience mostly, it sounds.

I do like a good middle eastern. When I worked in Israel regularly I much preferred to eat in the Arab villages. My preference being an order of “various grilled meats, & plenty of it”. I would, for show mostly, have a salad to the side. It was rarely touched.

I ate in a restaurant in Jaffa which had been involved in food purveyance in various guises.for 2,000 years. (Or, “since before Christ” as they put it). #2 son was there recently and determined to follow my footsteps but found it to be closed. (& not ‘for the day’. Shut, finito). Which given their, admittedly unverified, boast 15 years ago, was a bit of a stunner.

I believe they blame Brexit.

Jaffo/Yafo is really nice, btw.

Why am I awake?

Oh yeah, packing and driving.

Better be worth it. Mutter mutter grumble.

That is exceedingly sad, Armers.

What is also unfortunate, albeit on a lesser scale, is the longing for a proper kebab that has been kindled in the Gusly breast*. It’s only 09:30, dammit.

*or thereabouts; slightly lower, in fact

The classic is her A Book of Middle Eastern Food. The kind of cookbook one takes to bed to read.

Arabesque is a good, workable one - Moroccan, Lebanese and Turkish recipes. The stuffed quinces… < Gus loses self in happy reverie >
