For the bread makers among us…

That sounds so good.

The thing is, with repeated exposure the thuds get …thuddier

I do hope you label these things: they would make me very sick if I thought they were a chocolate brownie and ate one, and I doubt I am alone in this reaction to peanuts…

Is it ‘just’ peanuts, Fishy, or can you eat others? Great Granddaughter seems to be allergic to so many things that it seems easier to avoid the whole Bluddy lot where possible.

Avoid the round red cake container. Actually, the peanuts are v obvious.

It is all the pulses: peas, beans, lentils, peanuts and (I bet you didn’t know this was a legume: nor did I until the allergy testing was done on me) liquorice.

It is growing less and less easy to avoid peas, because pea flour has become the cheap-and-nutritious thing to add to everything, recently. It turns up for instance in some bread, which is frankly a bloody nuisance of it.

I don’t know which tree-nut, as opposed to ground-nut, gives me nasty symptoms, since they tend to come in gangs (in for example pound-cake) and I don’t really like any of them enough to bother to do a lot of potentially unpleasant testing.

I knew that liquorice could exacerbate heart problems, but had no idea that it was an pulse.

The ubiquity of pea flour is very concerning. Shopping will soon take an hour longer to give enuff time for reading the labels…

The fings one learns in The Cellar, eh?

Have you always been allergic to pulses & legumes, Fishy, or did it develop as you were growing up?

It started before I went to primary school. How early I don’t know, but early; my mother simply gave up giving them to me because they made me sick.

GGD is 1, so only at the start of things foodwise, but is already known to be allergic to Sesame, Cashew Nuts, Dairy & Egg.

Any Noo foods have to be tried at the Orsepiddle.

Sigh

Thank Ferk that she likes broccoli…:joy:

Liquorice tea - which is supposed to be good for something, settling the stomach, I think, also coughs* - is a bugger for raising the blood pressure, so that stacks up.

Wanna sherbet fountain now. Actually, I don’t, but a bag of Aussie soft liquorice wouldn’t go amiss.Or, in another register entirely, salmiak. Not a bag of it, though.

*hyssop is yer man for them, though.

Thank goodness that medics have yet to find that I adore liquorice
