I assigned each colour a number:
1 - blue
2 - grey
3 - pale green
4 - red
5 - white

and used the numbers in pi (ignoring 6-0) to decide which order they would come in; to decide how many rows per stripe I used pi a little further on, using only numbers between 3 and 7. And then I cheated a little towards the end because I could see how much I had left of each colour.

Thank you Fishy dear

Currently I am winding silks onto cardboard bobbins to stop em making an 'orrible mess

Being clever I even wrote the colour and colour number onto the card that fits in my new box for embroidery silks

I am worried about myself getting organised!

So you know (I found that I still have it because I forgot to delete it) the numbers I used went
3 - 3
1 - 5
4 - 7
1 - 6
5 - 4
4 - 3
2 - 4
5 - 7
3 - 6
5 - 3
3 - 4
4 - 3
2 - 6
4 - 5
3 - 3
2 - 5
3 - 6
4 - 3
1 - 5
2 - 3
1 - 4
4 - 6
3 - 3
2 - 6
4 - 7
(and on)

First figure is colour, second is number of rows. But you would have been able to work that out for yourself.

I am casting on a hoodie in really chunky yarn that should knit up fast

The cotton stripey jobbie will be a Summer wearing number

I am spoilt for choice of things to do

Carinthia I got creamish linen and cotton to embroider ye olde peacock on

Be careful with ā€˜spoilt for choice’ that you don’t end up starting severial projects & then abandoning them/casting them aside/forgetting what you are supposed to be doing…

The linen/cotton sounds nice

Knitting is my portable craft and my full size embroidery embroidery is my cosy snuggled down for winter craft

Dress making is a mixture of both
Wait for plaintive wails about what to do with a knitted fabric…

Carinthia asks me to point to ā€œMadeMeUKā€, a sort of UK-based etsy, and in particular wooden yarn bowls.

Facebook

the actual site

Thank-you very much, Dunnock.

I thought that they would die laughing if I mentioned knitting…:joy:

The site is a sort of UK version of Etsy & allows crafty people to sell their wares

Some of the stuff is fabulous, like the bowls, IMO, whereas other things don’t appeal.

Itizz certainly cheaper to belong to than Etsy

I have a knitting bowl on order through Etsy and I also got a few things through Etsy that were delightful gifts

That MademeUK site is now bookmarked

One thing I got through Etsy was a hand made notebook for the Bull’s radio log book
Buffalo hide cover hand made paper and a gorgeous thing that he adores…

And fair trade too

What is not to love?

Paper High is the company

All sorts of nice things

Ooo get me talking as if I am an expert on the interwebby shops!

Calling our Chatelaine

I have a remnant of grey wool knitted fabric 2 and a bit metres long

I am worried about cutting it in case the knitting runs

Just an A line skirt to ankle length is my plan

Any tips about handling it?

not so wide as a church-door, but 'tis enough, 'twill serve.

This suggests to me that your opportunities for wearing the eventual garment could be somewhat limited. Lair visits only?

This has reminded me of an answer purportedly proffered by a schoolchild asked to state the advantages of breastfeeding: ā€˜the milk’s at the right temperature and the cat can’t get at it’.
