I assigned each colour a number:
1 - blue
2 - grey
3 - pale green
4 - red
5 - white
and used the numbers in pi (ignoring 6-0) to decide which order they would come in; to decide how many rows per stripe I used pi a little further on, using only numbers between 3 and 7. And then I cheated a little towards the end because I could see how much I had left of each colour.
Thank you Fishy dear
Currently I am winding silks onto cardboard bobbins to stop em making an 'orrible mess
Being clever I even wrote the colour and colour number onto the card that fits in my new box for embroidery silks
I am worried about myself getting organised!
So you know (I found that I still have it because I forgot to delete it) the numbers I used went

5 - 4
4 - 3
2 - 4
5 - 7
3 - 6
5 - 3
3 - 4
4 - 3
2 - 6

First figure is colour, second is number of rows. But you would have been able to work that out for yourself.
Thank you so much - Iwas worried about my scatty memory and number of rows
Hey presto a kind friend gives me the way to go

Carinthia I got creamish linen and cotton to embroider ye olde peacock on
Be careful with āspoilt for choiceā that you donāt end up starting severial projects & then abandoning them/casting them aside/forgetting what you are supposed to be doingā¦
The linen/cotton sounds nice

Carinthia asks me to point to āMadeMeUKā, a sort of UK-based etsy, and in particular wooden yarn bowls.
Thank-you very much, Dunnock.
I thought that they would die laughing if I mentioned knittingā¦
The site is a sort of UK version of Etsy & allows crafty people to sell their wares
Some of the stuff is fabulous, like the bowls, IMO, whereas other things donāt appeal.
Itizz certainly cheaper to belong to than Etsy

How wide is it, Twellsy ?

140cms I think
The Bull has it in his lair to keep the cats off it
not so wide as a church-door, but 'tis enough, 'twill serve.
This suggests to me that your opportunities for wearing the eventual garment could be somewhat limited. Lair visits only?
Itās now beside me and is 140 cms wide and 288 - ish cms long
This has reminded me of an answer purportedly proffered by a schoolchild asked to state the advantages of breastfeeding: āthe milkās at the right temperature and the cat canāt get at itā.
Itās now back in the lairā¦
