Knittery and Stitchery and Stuff

I have just ordered this kit for B for Christmas

I will give her a challenge!

I got the wool in a sort of natural grey/brown colour

Proper stuff from Shetland

Do the group think she will like it?

She ought to.

Cobweb wool!
It’s a spectacular project and I imagine B will enjoy getting her teeth into it.

I just want her to do something for herself rather than everyone who asks

And cobweb weight wool shawl will certainly be different to dk baby blankets…

It was lovely chatting to the actual people in the business and discussing the project with them

And since my accent is near to the Scottish accent from the Hebrides we were able to chatter away in full mutual comprehension

The rule is in cm, and the shawl is as yet unblocked.

Wow just WOW
That is a thing of enormous beauty

What a talented Fish we have

I would never dare attempt something like that so I really really admire folk who can

Absolutely gorgeous, in my non-knitting opinion.

And this is how it looks ready to be blocked.

(It is more symmetrical than that looks, but the angle makes it strange.)

That’s stunning, Fishy

Did you use a wool mat for the blocking?

A longish time ago Lidl had foam mats for sale intended, I think, for children to play on, and I saw them and thought of blocking so I bought them. They fit together like jigsaw.

(I want them for my kitchen floor, and my bathroom floor, so those are not utterly slippery as well as cold and unyielding, but I would settle for cork tiles…)

I haven’t seen cork tiles for years, Fishy, not that I have looked.

The bedrooms at Carinthia Towers have carpet tiles, as there is an outlet down the road, & they were selling them orff. They are not the hairy type, though.

The kitchen has, originally pale blue terrazzo tiles, which were, as you say, cold, & unforgiving.
These have been covered by Contract-quality Flotex for the last 35 years, again, because there was an factory shop in Ripley where it is (used to be?) made.

The Junior Darlings have very heavy - duty cushioned vinyl in their bathroom & kitchen - not quite ‘Amtico’, but close.

The Senior Darlings have just redone their downstairs bathroom with a special type of cushioned vinyl for bathrooms, which is non-slip.

I have been given my Christmas present from lovely B

A mohair in cerise pink knit with a silvery grey 4ply pure wool jumper

The jumper is top down knit with a yoke of lace knit pattern

It is stunning

And on a hanger till the Indorex airs nicely

I prefer to give the moths trouble when dealing with such a marvellous wonderful gift made with love

They are things to treasure and enjoy for years

Might you twist yon Bull’s arm for a photie as it airs?

A photo will happen as I want to send B a picture of me in it tomorrow

Apologies, this isn’t the “tomorrow” after 3Wells said it would be, but at least it’s here now!

I am so lucky having B in my circle of friends

A lightweight warm pink cloud with 3/4 length sleeves is a joy now the Indorex has aired out
