I adore that Novita one

And I have green eyes…

Next decision is easy

Pink tones for the main part with either a mossy sagey green or a deep forest green?

I think the forest green myself for greater contrast

Although I admire the design of yoke pullovers, they are extremely unflattering to shortarses, such as I…just as well, as I have no ability to knit one.

Help

I am well into the rib of the Novita and I find I have 200g of the contrast as opposed to the 350g the pattern stipulates

In error the pattern was started with the main colour of which I have 6oog rather than 550g

Can I get away with the error do you all think?

100g of wool is 182 yards or 166 metres…

Short answer: probably not.

Order enough of the contrast colour for the amount in the pattern, swiftly, and hope for the same dye-lot.

Umm not a hope of the same dye run as I have had it a year and more

I have some forest green that picks ouut some flecks in my green wool so could I do a round of the pattern using that to stretch my green mossy coloured wool out?

Plausible.

Thank you Fishy

I would hate to lose all I had knitted thus far being a lazy old bat…

Right the story is that dear B who chrocheted my beautiful weskett has Re done the pattern to have one round of pattern at the bottom then no pattern on the sleeves to stretch my green wool to do the sweater and then worked the chart into written rather than chart form

I have my stitch markers so I am going in when I have changed needles for 5.5 mm so I get the size right for me

I may be some time…

My wool has arrived from Iceland (ordered on 11th October, and I call that good going) so I can make a thicker sweater than I already have.

The pattern is this one: Mountaineer sweater Novita Natura

And the wool colours are
main colour

Other colours

This is going to take a while, but I wanted to get it started to a reasonable size by the time I go to Norway next month.

The colours are reasonably close to those of the DDD.

You know how I approve of things matching, or at least coordinating, Fishy…

Beautiful Fishy

I have hit the buffers by not seeing a dropped stitch and moving all my stitch markers to the wrong place

Yay!

I love the apricot and all of the other yarn colours are very sympathetic to this. Fab.

B has rescued my dropped stitches annd wrong stitch markers soo I can start afresh on row 5 of the pattern tomorrow

I love B to bits

I’m glad you were rescued; I am a bit too far away to be able to help in any way except by sympathising.

You did help suggesting keeping yarn on different sides to avoid tangles and your encouragement is invaluable

I may only do a row a day but at least I try to do something

Gorgeous colours, Fishy. The wool looks interesting too, very tempting.

Is it normal for knitting on a circullar needle for work to resemble a mobius strip?

Do I panic or do I keep knitting?

Panic. You may now be knitting a klein jumper, and if you manage to put it on you will end up in a different dimension.

A Möbius strip is what happens if you don’t get the first round after casting on flat in relation to the other end of the round when you join them. If you have knitted up from there with a twist in the work, all you can do is make absolutely certain that it is not possible to lay the work flat without a twist in it, and if it isn’t possible you are going to have to start again.

I am surprised that B did not notice this when she was rescuing you from the dropped stitch, so it may just be that it is looking wrong but is actually ok, though.

Tip for avoiding it happening again if you do have to unpick it all and start again: do the first two or three rounds as rows, because that makes it easier to make sure that it doesn’t twist.

Am panicking and awaiting a B who knits in the round top down all the time

I will have my jumper should I have to unknit and reknit the whole thong
