Knittery and Stitchery and Stuff

Crocheting together is quick (er) too, & makes it very hard wearing.

When my Mother learned to crochet she made a single beadspread of 3.5" Granny Squares in as many colours as she could find.

These were crocheted together in black, so it looked rather like a stained glass window.

There was supposed to be a second one for me, but it didn’t materialise…

I think they may be rather laborious as one starts into the second hundred…

Mistake Rib sounds like the story of my life, Fishy…

Are you going to have a 1 row ‘border’ in the same stitch, & colour as the joining colour? It would give it a bit of definition, I feel.

I have a particular fondness for Tumbling Moss Blocks (both the name, which is a good obscenity substitute, and the stitch) and Parallelogram stitch, but many are lovely and quite new to me.
I am Mistress of End In-Weaving for the duration.

As a counterbalance to all this restrained blue-green good taste, I am knitting something flouncy, glittery and pink, for Reasons.

I plan on a border in the joining colour and stitch, but categorically no fringe, Carinthia.

Deffo no fringe.

Perish the thought, & all others like it.

Just, wow! That’s quite a project, and the completed squares look great.

So, 34 in 3 months = 19.763ish months for 224, you should finish knitting around about the end of April 2026. Then the joining up. Good luck!

I hope to get quicker at it with time! But I did in fact start, after buying and getting the OK on all the yarn, on 6th October, so it is 34 in 67 days and not quite so daunting. (And I have all but finished another square today, 2cm of it to go.)

It has to be 4-ply or it is too loose, for this particular job.
