A post was merged into an existing topic: So, who wants to help … to frivol in the cellar? (Part 2)
Hmm.
Funny place to find a yardarm.
Never mind, I can knit and drink gin at the same time.
I see no yardarm here.
muttermuttermutter…
I’ll have to move all the way to the cellar now…
muttermutter.
grumble.
Having completed the fortieth square, I am now trying to calculate how long this bedspread is going to take (before the crocheting together stage).
Started on 7th October, 40th square 77 days later; so if I need to do 240 squares, at that rate it will take me 385 more days.
If I need to do only 224, it’s 354 more days: less than a year.
My word and more power to your knitting elbows, Fishers.
Soo xx
There is a new batch of squares at quilt-photos
I am now up to 45 squares.
That’s forty-five squares since 7th October when I started the knitting, 87 days ago. I think it will get faster as I reach the point where I am repeating stitches and don’t have to feel my way as to how many a given one needs to have cast on to amount to 15cm when the square is knitted up. I have had to go back to the beginning several times, but I am keeping a note of how many I cast on for each, which will help.
Respect dear Fish
Can I ask for one in yellow tones or would I be told to knit it myself?!
Seriously the quilt is a thing of beauty and such a gentle way of showing love
There is going to be one yellow square to highlight the blues and greens.
Now you see I could do wivvout the Yeller, but that’s just me.
I particularly like nos 7, 11 & the basket - weave-y type-y ones.
It is going to be stunning, Fishy.
I expect that you will have to crochet it together on yer table as it’s going to be very heavy to deal with.

The single yellow square was Sudden Daughter’s own idea, so it will happen.
Um; 240 squares at 100g per 5 squares is about 5kg. You’re right, quite a lot to heft.
I was thinking about the possibility of distortion too, Fishy, not ‘just’ weight.
It ‘firms up’ a bit when severial sections are crocheted together.
Of course Sudden Daughter should have what she wants. You know me & Yeller don’t get on.

I thought this was fun
Scroll down and you will see…
I tend to knit functional rather than knickknacks; my life has enough kipple in it already. But yes, I can see that if one wanted a knitted snowman that is a good example.
I am currently knitting
round neck number
The one illustrated in pink? Looks a useful garment, as well as fun.
That’s the one
in deep red Donegall wool
Sort of burgundy colour
Nice!
I am now past 80 squares, which is one-third of the way to fiinished; the pictures are as usual at quilt-photos and the colour of the most recent ones is deeper than it looks in those photos.
