Sweaty, but that’s consistent with the wevver round here (some rain overnight, general hot sog after that). Looks as if that high humidity is set in for the rest of the week.

Just noticed that the pic I posted isn’t great. Weil try to get a better one tomorrow. Have had two of the best meals of my life in the last two days. Selection of antipasti and pork belly yesterday, washed down with a locally-produced red; day-old mozzarella today, then Saltimbocca alla Romana to die for (or possibly of), followed by a house special dessert—shortcrust pastry with almond and cream filling topped with black cherries. I know what you’re thinking, but this was no tart; this would be a Bakewell Society Courtesan, or Royal Mistress. The “almond” bit I suspect was augmented by a healthy shot of amaretto, and the cherries soaked in kirsch or some such.
All things considered, I’m rather fond of Italy…

In what passes for daylight, I see that the bungalow almost opposite has had quite a bit of the drive dug up, & cordoned orff. As most of the drive is behind wrought-iron gates this would account for a lot of the noisy activity & torches. Am not sure that the occupants are at home, ATM
