So, who wants to help ... to cower in the cellar?

I am going to be Very Good & let the Junior Darlings have a jar

I ate both jars last year…

I have 'phoned The Lad & promised him a jar of pickled onions . I always keep my promises, so can’t eat them all now…

JustJanie, I too have pickled onions, red cabbage & beetroot in my time, but haven’t done any for years

The Carinthian side of the Fambly hail from Nottingham & were/are demon picklers . Mr C’s niece has taken over the mantle from her grandmother & mother & has a waiting list for both onions & red cabbage

Sounds good, I’ll put in a request for pickled red cabbage to LadySusan. Our dad used to like it with scouse.

I can recommend Lingham’sChilli and garlic sauce with a baked potato

The Poles who run the hotel side of the clinic seem to believe that a single solitary tiny bit of butter is enough for a large baked spud

I think a spud needs more

Yon Bull brought me some delicious Lingham’s to help the flavour of the spud

Yummmmm

Practically anything savoury. Especially if it’s the ginger version.

Tidings of great (to some) joy and immoderate stickiness!
I have put the fruit to soak for Christmas Cake 1. The plan is that while no. 1 is in the oven tomorrow, I prepare the fruit for no. 2, and so on.

I have cocked up me calculations and have insufficient hazelnuts for the whole batch, a state of affairs which is reasonably easily rectifiable. Conversely I have ground almonds coming out of me ears.

Have you any decent chocolate to hand? That cake is well worth trying…

Though possibly only in anticipation of large numbers of guests–it is very rich. Still half of it left here!

I’m sure I must somewhere. I tend to have a stash in case of impulse baking. But cannot justify making that cake at the moment just for me; my baking dustbin neighbour is well caked-up and also away for a couple of days from tomorrow. And I have surprisingly little appetite at the moment. Thirst, yes - so obviously am not seriously ill

BUT that cake is definitely going to be made at some stage. Possibly when I visit the Ma. Good nourishing stuff for an elderly lady…

I wanted to have my fruits steeping in brandy and assorted spices

Bah to wonky lungs

Oh Twellsy, this really is a complete embuggerance for you. I’m so sorry.
Can you direct yon Bull by remote control? You don’t get the fun of getting sticky and slinging brandy around with a liberal hand but it does move things along a bit.
And do you have any visibility on when you might hope to be sprung?
